Västtrafik extends Nobina’s contract for Grön Express and route 24

Nobina again entrusted by Västtrafik to operate two contracts: express bus services between Kungälv – Göteborg – Mölnlycke, Grön Express, and Route 24. As a result of Västtrafik’s extension option, the contracts will continue for an additional two years, until 2021, encompassing some 50 vehicles.

Grön Express is now one of the Gothenburg Region’s largest express bus routes, with more than five million journeys annually and a steady increase in travel since the contract began in 2011. With more people choosing to travel by bus, we can jointly provide enhanced accessibility and a reduction in emissions from car traffic of more than 14,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually.

“We are pleased that we continue to enjoy the confidence of Västtrafik, as well as the trust of our passengers, which is evidenced by a strong increase in travel and high scores in customer satisfaction surveys. In the past year alone, travel has increased more than 15 per cent and this is something that we hope to be able to sustain through the continued development of vehicles and comfort,” says Bengt Svensson, Nobina’s traffic manager in Gothenburg.

Through the extension option, compliance with the highest level of environmental requirements (EURO 6) is made possible, while vehicles will also be modernised to ensure good comfort for our customers.

“We look forward to continuing the development of Grön Express in cooperation with Nobina. By cooperating, but at the same time giving the responsibility to develop services, we can better meet local demand and passengers’ expectations. With more passengers, who are also more satisfied, we are creating bus services that can continue to grow and gain market shares,” says Attila Ungvari, Business Manager for Bus Services at Västtrafik.
