Nobina wins bus-for-rail services tender for the Copenhagen metro
Nobina has worked closely for many years with Metro Service and today has operational responsibility for the “metro bus.” Rigorous demands were made in the new tender for response time as well as traffic planning, traffic management and real-time information for both planned metro closures and emergency events.
The new contract will extend from June 2024 until September 2027 with an option for two additional years, moving from operational responsibility for buses to an end-to-end solution for bus-for-rail services with high demands placed on IT solutions that enable real-time information for travellers.
“We are proud to continue developing and expanding our collaboration with Metro Service and our shared passengers. Bus-for-rail services is an area where we have substantial experience and where we also have an opportunity to introduce new technology and solutions for relevant, real-time information that meet the needs of travellers for reliable traffic services during planned maintenance and emergency events on the metro,” says Bram Lauwers, Managing Director of Nobina Denmark
Lars Toft Krag, Operations Director at Metro Service, who is responsible for operation and maintenance of the metro in Copenhagen continues:
“We are delighted to continue the good cooperation with Nobina following this tendering round. We particularly appreciate the level of Nobina’s ambition and that it shares our aspirations for and focus on an agreement that will truly benefit our passengers. Both to swiftly deploy buses as required while also providing the best possible traffic information to metro passengers.”
